Ethan had his big eye exam today. The doctors said he is doing very well with his eye development, it is a little immature, but completely normal for his age. We have another check up in 3 weeks. He did pass his Hearing Screening. He was quit a trooper through these. The nurses told me not to be present during the eye exam as it is difficult to see your little one held down with objects in his eyes to keep them open. The nurse we had today was AWESOME, she helped me out so much with my nerves beforehand.
Yesterday, we had mentally prepared ourselves for transferring to the hospital in Mankato to finish his care after his eye exam, but today they decided to keep him here because he is so close to going home. They feel he will soon have his "breakout" feeding and will be well on his way to taking full feeds from me. So, everyone send your good nursing vibes to little Ethan! I was looking forward to leaving this tiny room we are in here and seeing my house. I am beginning to feel like I am in a reality show testing my sanity living in such a confined space for 4 weeks plus the week I was on bedrest here! I can do it, though! I would do anything for Ethan, like continuing to take luke warm showers, drying off with towels that are thinner than my paper towels I buy at home and the size of hand towels, dealing with no drinking faucet and having to use a key to get to the ice and water machine, and sleeping with pillows that have plastic coverings! I am complaining, it may sound like it, but I am just documenting the annoyances. :)
He continues to gain weight well. Here he is almost filling out his froggy preemie outfit.
The nurse today "precribed" us to go out and get a dose of Vitamin D. It was nice and sunny out today so Brad and I went for a walk, which felt awesome. We stopped in at a random coffee shop, Brad was out of his comfort zone. I wish I had a picture of his eyes when the coffee he ordered came in this cup. The place was too metro-sexual for him. We got the giggles pretty bad. Here is the picture of his cup.
