One Month Old....
SOOO many things happened today, so many BIG things. So, this will be a LONG posting. Here we go:
Weight: 5lbs 8oz
Length: 19 inches, have grown 1 1/2 inches.
How can this be? I cannot believe one month as gone by already!

We decide to write you a letter each month, here is your first one!

Dearest Ethan,
One month ago you made your mommy and daddy very nervous when we were told mommy was going to the labor room. We thought it was way to soon and were so worried. Little did we know how strong you were going to be and how the good Lord would be with us through it all! You are truly our little miracle! We thank the Lord every night during your goodnight prayers!

You have overcome SO many things in 4 short weeks. You have surprised doctors by your amazing growth and nursing skills for your age. Doctors told us you were "top or your class" and you "don't fit the normal profile of a wimpy white boy preemie" You are now working so hard at taking all your feedings through nursing. Your checks and legs are filling out and your beautiful eye lashes are in. You still have lots of hair, but daddy is so nervous it is getting lighter. Mommy says that is fine because you look just like your dad, you can have your mom's light hair at least! We will patiently wait to see what your eye color does too. Right now they are blue, we will see if that recessive trait pulls through or if the brown will dominate.

We love when you are alert and look at books and check us out so carefully. We adore your little squeeks, groans, and adorable faces that you make. We could just sit at stare at you all day long in amazement of how special you are to us! Even though you came 9 weeks early, we now see it as a special thing being able to have you be part of our lives 9 weeks earlier than expected. We can't imagine how we thought our lives were complete before you became part of it. We are anxiously awaiting the day we finally get to take you home, where it can be just the 3 of us (plus Zoie), hanging out loving every minute of it!
Lots of Love Forever and Ever,
Mom and Dad

Other MAJOR happenings today:
1) His belly button cord fell out.
2) He went on Ab-Lib feedings, meaning he eats as much as he wants and if he maintains or gains weight then he is eating enough. They want him to stay with 165mL or more every 12 hours.
3) Took his first bottle from daddy. They were quit the team! Dad did great and so did Ethan!

4) THE BIGGEST EVENT WAS THAT WE MOVED TO THE WEST WING. West Wing, you ask? Well, ever since we got here we have heard about the imfamous "west wing". We have never seen what it is all about but just heard that when you go there you go HOME in a couple of days! It's like where the "big kids" go just like in the White House with the West Wing Executives. So, as of 5:00 tonight we moved down here and now we have Ethan in the room with us!! He is still hooked up to all his monitors and there is a nurse outside the room watching his monitors. We will feed him when he is hungry and we are on our own unless we ask for help! So, as long as everything goes well we might be going home in a few days!!! Keep praying for us!
