Just Couldn't Wait Anymore...................
Brad and I are proud to introduce our son Ethan Robert Weber!!! Born January 20th at 10:04pm 9 1/2 weeks early. He just couldn't wait like the doctors wanted him too. He weighed 4 lbs 1 oz and was 17 1/2 inches long. Since I haven't even had time to buy a baby book, I will be using this for documentation, so sorry for all the extra info that will come.

All day on Tuesday I felt horrible, couldn't get comfortable in any position and the nurses were not believing I was having contractions because they were not showing up on the monitors. I felt like it was going to be an impossible mission to do this for another four weeks like they wanted to in order to get me to 34 weeks. Dad, Connie and Brad tried to distract me all day by playing cribbage, watching movies, etc. NOTHING worked. My medicine to stop contractions wasn't working as well. We were all pumped to listen to the ISU basketball game at 6:30 and about at half time came the big show- vomit everywhere! Now, that got the nurses attention! She called the Resident Doctor to come and check my cervix and I was dialated at a 4. They hadn't checked me since I was admitted the previous Thursday and they never thought any of the irritablity I was having was changing much of anything. I was super scared to hear them say "We have got to get to delivery" All week we have been NOT wanting to hear those words, so needless to say Brad and I were very emotional! I was in the delivery room by 8:00. I remember looking at Brad and his face was a green as the walls in the room. I asked if he wanted my dad to stay and he did to make sure Brad didn't pass out. By 9 I was at a 6, water broke (talk about a WEIRD experience!!) at 9:35 and baby Weber was born at 10:04pm. It all happened so fast my actual doctor never made it. However, there was NO lack of people present! I swear all the sudden about 15 students, nurses, RA's magically popped out of the walls to watch everything! My RA was AMAZING! She talked me through the whole thing and I could do exactly what she wanted me to do. I have to say I surprised myself with dealing with pain and never had to take any drugs! Dad called me an old Pioneer Woman! Brad did great too!

He came out breathing and screaming, which was a HUGE relief. Ethan's APGAR score was 8-9!!It was SO exciting waiting to find out what we had. I always thought I was having a boy and Brad thought a girl, so he was super surprised. I got to hold him and then "poof" everyone was gone and it was just me all alone with one nurse! Brad went to the NICU right away and was there for about 3 hours until I was able to go see him. We hadn't discussed names so he was nameless for the first twelve hours of his life. They put his name on his board as Mr. Weber because that is what Brad told them to do because it was working for him and that is what all the NICU nurses called him.

At 1 am he was gasping for air and was on the border line of needing a breathing tube, so they decided to put one in. Scary but our first hurdle was through.

By 4 pm today ( Thursday) Ethan was doing so well, they took him off his breathing tube and is now breathing ALL on his own!! We read Ethan means "strong" and that he is!!! He is our strong guy! Robert is after great grandpa and grandpa Butcher.

We then got to hold him for the first time. They use the Kangaroo hold (skin to skin)

My first holding, tears in my eyes!

Check out all that black hair!! We just love it!

Brad really didn't want me to post these of him, but hey he needs to show off his great daddy skills already too!

They are even starting the first feedings tonight at 8pm!! He will get 2ml every 3 hours. Hope I can keep up with him with my pumping!! We are SO proud of everything he has done in just 24 hours!!

WE LOVE OUR ETHAN!!!
