Another Big Day for Ethan!


Oh, our precious Ethan. You are SO strong and doing SO well. You gained 40 grams yesterday! Which is 20 grams from original weight. The doctors said everything is going great. You are tolerating your feedings, which you are on full feedings for your size (36ml every 3 hours or about 9 1/2 ounces a day) and now working on regulating body temperature on your own. Your BIG accomplishment today was showing great interest in nursing. While mom was kangarooing you were doing a lot of rooting and the nurse called in the lactation specialist. The specialist didn't believe the nurse because you are only 32 week gestational age. But, sure enough you proved her wrong. She showed mom how to hold you like a football and we tried to see if you would latch on. You shocked her by doing that AND THEN you even started sucking! You got a total of 2mL when it was all said and done! So, we are on our way to sucking, swallowing, and breathing all at the same time! We are so proud of you little buddy Ethan!

Yesterday we gave Ethan his second bath. He stilled loved it! I sure do hope he continues to loves baths and water his whole life. I can imagine us going to the pool a lot during the summer! Here he is all cleaned up ready for his night time prayers. Here was so pooped out after his bath. He loves to hold onto our fingers to fall asleep. It is so hard to let go and leave him!!
