Not a Preemie anymore.....

Well, it is official, Ethan cannot fit into his preemie clothes anymore, even though he has 11 days until his due date. When the nurse came today he weighted 7lbs 1oz. He has gained 3 pounds in a little less than 2 months. She was impressed and so is his mamma! I understand why because he is seriously eating every 1 1/2- 2 hours, which leaves me to very little sleep. He had a good spell of eating every 3 hours early last week, but that has changed drastically. He struggles staying asleep for an hour. We try everything- bassinet, bouncy chair, crib, pack-n-play, and today even the swing. They all do about the same job, keep him quiet for about 45 min. I gave up last night and just slept in the rocking chair with him until he woke him for his next feeding. That worked great, but can't do that all the time. The nurse today said he is acting like a normal full term baby when you first bring them home. She said it will get better when he gets to be about 10-12 pounds. So, if he is gaining an ounce or more a day that leaves me with about 50 days of little sleep- ha. I don't want to wish time away like that. He definitely has more symptoms of reflux this week and we will keep an eye on it. We go to the doctor on the 31st and maybe she will have some answers for that. Here are some pictures of the guy! Yes, we used ALL the pieces of the Carter's outfit. Well, the hat and the booties lasted a very short time.

He is fake sleeping here, don't let him fool you!

He rocked at his eye exam on last Thursday! I was nervous about how the car ride, feedings, and eye exam would go and yet again Ethan proved to me that I worry too much! He did great! Sleep the whole way up there and in the waiting room. He woke up when they dialed his eyes and then ate very well in the exam room while we waited a 1/2 hour for the drops to work. Then he did great during the exam. The doctor said she had never worked with a baby that behaved as well as he did. He passed it and does not have to go back until he is a year old! We are so proud of the little guy!

I feel for you on the sleep thing. Josie didn't sleep through the night until she was 2 yrs. 2 mo. My sister took her for a couple of days and took away all bottles and binkies. I had a friend that used to put her child in the car seat and set it on the drayer with the dryer running, you could always give that a try? Hang in there mom...I always repeated my mantra "She'll never be this little again" when the going got tough:o)
