This year was something new with Ethan's birthday. It was the first year we didn't do a family party. I don't think we will do that again. We really missed seeing those that could make it come up. It just worked out that we were going down to Ames for an ISU game on his ACTUAL birthday, which was Saturday, so we saw grandpa and Connie and grandma Lori. Ethan going to Hilton was the best in his mind. So, we didn't feel like doing his party the week before or afterwards so it was what it was. Ethan had his own basketball game at the Y that morning and then we FLEW down to Ames!
Presents before his game.
Brad was his coach this year. They both did great for their first game! Ethan had lots of points and rebounds this game!
Birthday at Hilton....exactly how he would like to celebrate every birthday!
We went for supper afterwards with grandma, aunt Lois and Frank. For his gift grandma paid for Naz Long basketball camp in Ames in June. He was PUMPED!
The next day Ethan had a GREAT friend party though! The weather was really on our side. We took 9 kids to Mt. Kato for snow tubing! There was lots of snow the week before and his party landed on a warmer day so the kids weren't freezing!
The whole crew, Dane, Kipton, Asher, Luke, Brody, Ethan, Raxton, Elliot, and Levi.
Ooooo the lessons I learned about this cake!! He didn't ask for much for his birthday but he wanted a cake in the shape of a football. We usually do Hy-Vee cakes but they couldn't do that for us. So we went to this yummy cupcake shop- Bluebird Bakery and asked if they could do it. Our teenage neighbor was working that night and she had us all hooked up....well, maybe....we said no fondant...got fondant...and I made a HUGE mistake by not asking for a price. So, went to pick it up and over 100 dollars later I walked away with a fondant cake. I didn't say anything as I didn't want my neighbor girl to get in trouble. So, I made sure we ate every last piece of that cake throughout the week!
IT was a BUSY but FUN weekend celebrating Ethan!!
