The Merrill's came to MN! We picked Katie, Reesey-Piecesy and Drew up at the airport and hit up a pumpkin patch on the way home from the airport! It was going to be a weekend full of midwest fall fun!
The boys thought this rollers were just the greatest!
The next morning I came down to this lil pumpkin all dressed to the 9s for our next days adventure to another pumpkin patch in Fort Dodge. It was one heck of an adventure. Katie and I laughed how we should have written down all the crazy things moms have to do in a car ride when traveling. It started with Reese crying herself to sleep, got her asleep and then onto Drew doing some complaining about how he couldn't stretch his legs. Once that was over we had Luke crying that his penis hurt- YEP- not making this up. So, off the road so we could let Luke pee, of course that led to Drew peeing, and then the stopping made Reese wake up. So, we start in again just to realize I needed gas. So we stop about 10 min later. Katie runs in to get some snacks. All quiet until....they then needed something to drink. It was seriously like the book "If you give a mouse a cookie" We had lots of laughs and melts downs and freak out moments- but it was an adventure!
We FINALLY made it!
Grandma Lori met us with Kelby and Beau. And Katie had friends flying in from FL as well!
Time to get out of the car and EXPLORE!!!
More rollers!
A giant bouncing bubble! We had lunch (a whole other story- bad batch of mac and cheese) and then headed to Holstein to grandma Lori's.
A full out baseball game!
Luke and Beau weren't really into the game- just stood out there and played with each other. We had a fun night with great weather!
The next morning we went to great grandma's for some of her famous cinnamon rolls!
Here the boys are playing with her new chair- they like the hydraulics! Boys!!!
I got my baby Becky cuddles!!!
This is why I love my grandma- she has the best little quotes, saying, and a strong FAITH! It was a good message for me!
Then the running around meeting up with the, as Luke quotes it "real farmers". Luke got done riding with Ben and Andrew and said, "Mom, now I am a REAL farmer!" It was like musical chairs only musical farm equipment. We went from combines to tractors to semi-trucks to cattle feed trucks and probably some more that I didn't see!
Drew ready to ride!
Love watching my family work SO HARD and am SO PROUD of their dedication to the farm life! My boys are lucky to have that hard work gene from both the Weber and Butcher family farmers!
After rolls and playtime it was PIE time. Grandma made 4 HOMEMADE pies! It was AMAZING.
Here is the story behind these pics....Luke didn't make the first round of farming. So he stayed back for pie- mr. sweet tooth was fine. I look over and see him blindly picking off all the yummy chocolate curls grandma hand curls for her chocolate pie.
Beau comes over to see what he is doing. Beau says not to do that.
Luke keeps going....we then later take the left over pies out to grandpa Butcher's. Here grandpa asks "Luke- what happened to all the chocolate curls on this side of the pie, Luke?" He replies, "hummmm, great grandma must have forgetten to put them on that side." THAT STINKER!!! So, we had a teachable moment of how you have to honest...mommy showed the pictures and said he was busted!
Love this view of the farms.
Sunday we had Becky's baptism, which was great we were all there!
Grandma Lori and all the grandkids at church after the baptism.
Got in some Godson, Charlie snuggles too!!!
Then we had some visitors from Iowa State University come out. Dad found out earlier this fall that the Butcher's owned the farm land that was once part of the Land Grant to build ISU! They wanted to come out and write a story about it. It has been in the Butcher family for well over 100 years and pretty cool history. The gal doing the story is Krystal Doolittle- here is her blog explaining the ISU Land Grant Legacy project. There is a cool video to watch. I will update when our story hits her blog!

Then back to MN to get to DADDY- it was his Birthday!! He stayed home to work. Big time snuggles that night before having to head back to school on Monday! BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!!
