This little goof ball is 3! How is that possible! It is a weird feeling because a couple months after Ethan was 3 Luke was born and I felt like Ethan was sooo grown up, but with no baby around Luke still seems so much like a little guy still! Know wonder my mom called Ben, baby Ben for years, I get that now!
It was fun that Luke's Birthday fell on a weekend and we could actually (actually, actually is Luke's new favorite word. see story below:) celebrate his birthday party on his BIRTHDAY. Good thing because Luke gets very confused about the concept of time/days/weeks/months. I learned that I cannot tell him anything about future events because he will ask multiple times in a day if we are doing that even. Like our cruise, I stopped telling him it was coming up because he would ask every day if we were going on the big boat and then threw a fit when I said, not today! So, I can't imagine what he would do when I said it was birthday, but we weren't having his party yet.
Anyways, it was fantastic weekend. John and Kathy were able to come up on Saturday night. We went to Church and then Luke's favorite sit down restaurant (otherwise we would have been going to Culver's for corndogs!) Dino's. It's a cute little pizza place that cooks the pizza in a brick oven you can see. They let the kids write on the table cloth and give them real pizza dough to play with, what kid would't like that?!?!
We were celebrating Papa Weber's birthday that night, too. It was his the weekend before.
Posing with Papa and Grandma
Ethan wanted in on a photo!
On your birthday they bring a tray of ice cream and toppings. Grandma helped Luke with the chocolate.
Kind of dark, but Luke did his own sprinkles. I think there was more sprinkles than ice cream!
Then they came out with Papa's Birthday Dessert and the coolest candle ever! I love this next series of pictures with their expressions!
It was a great time celebrating 2 special guys!!!
Sunday morning meant party time! Luke woke and his first words were, "it's my birthday can I have my cake now?"
So, this picture was taken first thing after getting dressed. Notice the corner had a little finger swipe of frosting at 9 am!
Luke is a very indesisive kid (just like his mommy) and had several plans for his party. He was talking Blaze and the Monster Machine party and we went to Party City and came out with Jake and the Neverland Pirates stuff!! He loves to dress up in costumes and I wanted to be Jake for his party!
Ben, Bri, Beau, grandpa Butcher, and Connie came up Sunday morning for the party! It was great to see them all!
Present time, look at those great helpers!
baseball mit!
Superhero capes were a hit!
Love this photo of the little guys checking each other out. Sizing up the competition of super heroes!
Brad felt left out so he became the real Captain and then soon the Captain and Cokes started flowing!
Super Hero flying with grandpa.
The rest of the presents were opened in costume! Sleeping bag, sprinklers, dino speaker, clothes, and BUBBLE stuff!
Then it was time to PLAY with the new presents!
Cake time!
This was his Jake MAP he picked out for the table. Didn't get a shot of everyone eating around it, but there is was.
I love the family of 4 we have!! So blessed!! How do we have a 6 year and 3 year old??
Singing Happy Birthday
The crew minus Connie.
More play time with costumes!
My super hero!!
Beau had a great time, too!
Uncle Ben gave Luke a wedgie and he just couldn't get it out unless he took his pants completely off! It was pretty funny!
Thanks everyone for coming to my Jake Party!!! Love, Luke the Pirate
Some stats and stories:
Height 38 inches 60%tile (has 2 inches to grow before Disney in December)
Weight: 36 pounds 86%tile Out of the 90's! He is really slimming down!
This kid keeps us on our toes at all times! He is stubborn, but cute, strong, but still sensitive, funny, but charming and rule breaker, but smart. He really has lots of personalities! My sweetest story is that at night when I am laying with him and he knows I am about to leave, he pushing the hair off my face and says, "you are soo beautiful mom." How do you leave him then?? He also is obsessed with baby Reese. He wants to watch videos of her daily! It is too sweet.
Now, his stubborn sly story. He can struggle listening well at daycare so every morning we "turn on our listening ears" and place a piece of candy in mom's pocket and we can have it on the ride home if we were a good listener that day (yes, I am not above bribery!) One week we were really struggling getting to eat that treat, in fact the same piece of candy was in my pocket on Friday that was placed there on Monday! On Friday morning I got into the car and Luke says and these are his exact words, "mom, do you have my chocolate in case I am ACTUALLY a good listener today?" How does one not chuckle when your not even 3 year old thinks like this??? Preschool next year could get interesting!! He can identify all his letters uppercase and lowercaseand 90% of the sounds they each make, showing that the kid is smart, but stubborn because he won't sing the alphabet for us!
See what I mean by keeping us on our toes?!?! Love him to pieces and wish time would slow down! Love you lots Lukey!!!
