Then the season came around and we noticed he was a bit afraid of "everything Halloween." I think our hour long stay at Party City with the whole store decorated in scary things (long story, but I locked my keys in the car and had to wait for someone to go to our house get the spare, and bring them to me). He left even scared of pumpkins.
We have hear lots of, "that pumpkin too scary." Learned to stay completely away from spider webs, and anything with a mask! We tried telling him everything is fake, but didn't really work.
On the night of carving pumpkins, we asked him what he wanted the face to be and he went to get his pumpkin book to show us he wanted a surprise face not a scary one.
Here was the process...
Checking the inside, debating what to do.....
Trying it...
"too sticky!!"

A happy boy with a plain pumpkin.
His surprised face with his surprised pumpkin.
A little cooler when it is lit up.
Ethan's daycare provider, Catherine, does a great job on Halloween and all the kids dress up and visit their parents at work. My classes always think it is so neat and so do I! Here is what I made for the little trick or treaters...cutie oranges like pumpkins- thank you Pinterest! Of course I was up the night before late waiting for those things to not be cold since I learned the marker doesn't work on cold oranges.
The completed project.
What else do you where on Halloween morning? Pumpkin undies of course!!
Superhero pose- minus the crazy bedhead hair.
Then what else do you get for supper on Halloween other than a jack-o-latern pizza from Papa Murphy's. Well, everyone else in town must have had the some thought. We went and waited a painful 30 min. Painful because the workers and patrons were in costume- Ethan screamed almost the whole time- "I want my daddy!" "Too scary."
So, the costume, a CHICKEN described his personality during the Halloween season- he was chicken! But, a cute chicken at that!
The back cracked me up the most!
Posing with his Cyclone pumpkin
Ready, set, go....
The loot! He did awesome! We went around the circle block to about 20 houses! The last few were rough as it got dark and Ethan was scared of the masked faced kids. So, we headed home.

Look at you, Ms. Crafty! I love the cutie oranges idea and will file that away somewhere for the future (along with the marker not working on cold oranges thing!) Ethan is so stinking cute, and I just love that he turned into his costume this Halloween!
Cutest chicken I have ever seen! I LOVE the pumpkin undies:)
