A Weekend Away

Well, I DID IT! I survived a whole weekend away from my baby Ethan! Brad was gone all week at a conference in Michigan and I was able to join him for the weekend (thanks for your hard work Brad to earn a trip for me!). So, grandma Lori and Frank and grandpa Bob and Connie split the time watching Ethan at our house. I don't know why I would ever be worried to live Ethan with them, but it is just hard that first time. I feel bad for my mom because I think I called/texted every 4 hours! So, how was the trip?!?! Let me tell you how it started....

*Left Ethan for the first time, cried the first 30 min. to the airport.

*Got to Traverse City Michigan and my luggage did not- cried again- I was a mess. So I had to go the dinner banquet in my airport close- gross! They did find my luggage and it arrived in our room later that night.The lake was gorgeous, so clear you could see the bottom, not like the lakes in MN!

*Next day Brad and I had signed up to go on a Catamaran trip on the beautiful lake and it RAINED the whole time! Don't worry we did still have fun with something called a Shot Ski. Check out the picture! A water ski with holes drilled for drinking a shot! I didn't have one but enjoyed watching everyone else try!

*Onto our next day activity....Canoeing, something I have never done in my life. Brochure said a very easy river with slight bends. Only 4 people decided to do this activity this day...should have been our sign right there! So, got in the canoe and not a minute later...SPLASH...we tipped into the FREEZING cold river! A giant log sticking out of the banks kind of got in our way! The other couple did the same thing we did! They turned back and quit. Brad and I decided to go on and had the tour guide sit in the back and steer us, so I got to sit in the middle and do nothing. Glad we went on.
So, despite the bad luck, we had a great time! Ethan had a blast with his grandparents! All in all a great experience for all!A local singer, I learned his name was Drew, played every night on the top floor bar at the hotel, I thought he was AMAZING! We went every night to have a night cap up there.
