Bikes, Broken bones, birthday, and Cyclone Tailgate Tour (no b there)

BIKES
on trail to Rapidan for Mother's Day- he rode the Tag along.
Luke got a new bike for his birthday so his goal is to be able to ride it well enough to ride to Cold Stone for Ice Cream. We have some training to do....and then came the...

Injury! On Mother's Day is was a HOT weekend and after our 14 mile bike ride for some famous pie at the Rapidan Damn Store, we went over to the neighbors who have an inflatable bouncy- waterslide. We were there no more than 5 min and Luke went flying down past the pool wall that holds you in. He landed on the grass. He was holding his arm and crying- we iced- and then back up he went for the rest of the afternoon. Monday morning he came downstairs and wasn't able to put on his shoes or pull up his pants. So off to Urgent Care we went. Did and x-ray- nothing broken so a sling for a week and a re-check the next week.

Not too bad. The sling didn't hold him back- he just moved it out of his way if couldn't do anything.

Meanwhile off to the Cyclone Tailgate tour.

We have been going to Cyclone Tailgate tour since Ethan was a BABY! So we couldn't miss...but Ethan had baseball so he missed. Luke and I headed down to see the coaches, players, and grandpa and Connie.

Luke tried on some Cyclone gear!

 Some shoes...

 helmets....

And then we got our picture taken with Coach Campbell... dad was ready to take it....
but had it in selfie mode. this was one of 11 photos... haha.

 There we got it!

Hoping for some more wins this year Coach! SUPER nice guy though!
Luke liked all the trophies!

We went out for supper afterwards and headed home.

For my birthday Brad and I went to Josh Turner with some friends.

On my actual birthday, the boys bought be an ice cream cake and there were tornado sirens going off like crazy, so we had to eat the cake in the basement waiting out the storms.
 Luke stealing licks.

Love these boys more than words can describe~

The Merrill's send me flowers at work--- that was sooo thoughtful and fun surprise!

Back to the arm injury story....After a week in the sling, things were good, but, the one thing he couldn't do was straighten it completely. At the one week re-check his doctor didn't like that and sent us to Orthopedic Fracture Center. They re-x -rayed and saw something concerning in his elbow that they wanted to prevent so, since the sling didn't do us any good, they casted it. 2-3 weeks. I was worried about the summer first thing like pool, tennis lessons, and Boji. We go back on the 7th to see if it all healed and able to come off.
He wanted HOT PINK as the color- I won the battle and suggested "since blue is your favorite color, why don't we just go with blue?" Mom wins!
He has been a trooper about it, itches- so we use a blow dryer at home to blow some air down it. But, one morning in the car we had no blow dryer- he didn't quiet get that I couldn't get one in the car, so he wanted the window down so the air could blow in it- great problem solving skills I might add, but the only problem was that it was raining and he was getting his "eyes wet" so he asked for my sunglasses- again not bad problem solving. So this is how we rolled to daycare.

Sure hoping the cast comes off on the 7th so we can live up summer the best way we know how- AT THE POOL, on the bikes, golfing, tennis, you know, everything you need 2 arms out of casts to do!
