Welcome Luke Bradley

SO, 8 ultra sounds, 20 weekly progesterone shots, 26 doctor appointments, and COUNTLESS prayers later,
our lives have forever changed once again! We are now a family of 4! Here is the story how Luke Bradley entered into our lives!
So, I woke up Wednesday morning so excited to know that I was 37 weeks, technically full term! That is what I had been praying for this whole pregnancy. I felt great (besides my upper back pain)! I went to work preparing for 7 more days of work with 3 nights of conferences upon me.
I had an OB appointment at 4:45. Dr. said I was dilated to a 3 and 70% effaced. She was pretty confident that I would make it to my next appointment the upcoming Monday. I did find out that my GBS (group B strep) test came back positive and that I was a carrier of it. Bummer, but she told me that all should be fine if I get my 4 hours of anti-biotic during labor.
I went home and was talking to Katie on the phone and at 6:00 my water broke! Thank goodness Brad was home!! We called Jaci to come and get Ethan and got to the hospital by 6:45 and to my room by 7. They confirmed my water did break and started antibiotics. I was dilated to 6-7 at this point. They talked drugs/pain killers with me. I wasn't in too much pain at this point, so I talked to mom (who by the way was in Turks!!!) and she talked to me about breathing stuff. They said they would check me every 2 hours, but I was feeling sooo much pressure they checked again and I was at an 8- too far for drugs now! They called the on-call doctor at 8pm and things kept cruising along, super fast to the point that I was now freaked the doctor wasn't going to make it. At one point I feel the nurse thought that as well. She called to make sure the doctor was in the building, checked and I was at a 10. The doctor came in with coat and purse in hand- it was a green purse- washed her hands and I was pushing! ANOTHER BOY! He entered the world at 8:55pm! Just under 3 hours since my water broke!

Loved the fast labor, but I didn't get all the antibiotics I needed.
He came out screaming and perfect to me! I got to hold him for over an hour, even tried nursing before the nurses came back to weigh him. Such a priceless moment to hold him!

 So calm!

I called dad (the only grandparent who wasn't on vacation!) when I was on my way to the hospital and Luke beat him (and if you know my dad, he is a heavy pedal kind of driver!).
Proud Grandpa Butcher

Stay tuned for more about the rest of our hospital stay.....

Wendy! Libba told me about your blog and I've been following. Congratulations! I am so happy for you and your family. This post reminded me of my birthing story of my own Luke. Only I had to do it with drugs... YOU are a rock star. Good job, Mama. He's perfect.

Take care - Brooke ( Young) Amys
