Hold on readers (not sure if anyone reads these anymore or not) but I'm BACK!! I had some log in issues this summer and got frustrated and said - "I'm Done Blogging" Then this fall Ethan found all the blog books I have printed and read them cover to cover. He asked if I am making one for this year. YIKES! So folks, I'm back! Beware....lots of photo dumping and large posts to come. Gotta get these knocked out before baby comes!
First up...SUMMER Baseball
Ethan's Baseball:
Ethan played on the Blue Jays this season and was #2. He really came a LONG way with his skills this year! It was the first year for kid pitching and at the beginning of the season he was like "I don't think I will even tryout for that." No worries...no one pushed him. Then by mid season he had a change of tune..."I want to try." So he went to practice and asked the coach if he could tried. They let him and he pitched a little bit in almost every game after that!
Standing on base.
Ethan had very little strike outs this year. He connected a lot to second/first base. So his fast legs were needed if he wanted to get on base.
Grandpa and Connie made it up to one of his games.
On the field second base was his favorite place to play!
Big Swing!
There he is pitching!
Dad helped coach again this year
His team at the beginning of the season.
Grandma Lori came up for a game too.
We had games every Monday and Wednesday night all summer until mid July. It was a lot of nights at the ball park, but always enjoyed watching him play!
Next up for Ethan: Golf Club Lessons
This was something new Ethan added to his summer plate. Junior Golf at the golf club. It was such a neat program. He was soooo nervous on the first day. Doing something he has never done before. But when I picked him up he was BEAMING and said it was Awesome! They had a 30 min. lesson and then they golfed 2 holes each day.
His metal from the banquet.
An almost everyday event::: THE POOL
Also an everyday at the pool event would be a "treat". I wish I would have counted how many Big Bopper Ice Cream Cookie sandwiches these kids had each day! Just chilling with their pool buddies!
Charlie even got in the pool action this summer!
Another Ethan First: Naz Long Basketball Camp
Grandma Lori bought Ethan tickets to Naz Long basketball camp for his birthday. He waited for this day since January! It was a BIG day for him. He left wishing he also could go to George Niang and Monte Morris camp!
He got his basketball signed, too!
Drills!
Naz talking about dedication and THANKING your parents!
3 on 3
George Niang visited too!
We ate on the rooftop at Wallaby's 2 nights in a row. The boys always comment all football and basketball season when we drive by to grandpa's apartment that they want to eat up there someday. So we did it twice!
Ninja Warrior Gym
A few rainy days we checked out the Ninja Warrior Gym. Unfortunately it didn't stay open very long and was closed by the end of the summer. Bummer! The boys both wanted to have their birthday parties there!
Another First: The Lorax at the Minneapolis Children's Theater
My friend Staci ( and her High School kids) joined us at the Children's Theater. She had been talking about how great the shows are there and she was right! AMAZING!!
Silly boys!
We saw the schedule for the next season and saw Mr. Popper's Penguins on there. So we decided to read the book together over the summer and then hope to go to that show next year!
A first for Luke: Luke: T-Ball
Luke was super pumped for T-ball! He had a great time!
Hitting and then
running!
Brad and I were not prepared how, for lack of better terms, "painful" it would be to go back to watching t-ball vs. baseball. haha. No, it wasn't that bad but made you realize how far those kids come in just a few years with their skills!
End of season certificate.
Mid summer stretch!
4th of July
We stayed in town for the 4th this year! We went over to the Haskins (neighbors) for some grilling and Michael does South Dakota fireworks!
Unfortunately, Luke started puking mid night and missed the BIG ones we did. And then we didn't go downtown for the firework show!
We had lots of daytime adventures with mom throughout the summer:
Golfing with Mom
Walking Sculpture Tour
The kids love doing this each year. Their favorite part is to vote at the end!
sloth is what Ethan voted for
With all the big rains we had the river was FULL Luke was amazed to see basically a whole tree floating down the river!
Luke's vote went to the baby.
Grandma came up for some visits too! Playing Ticket to Ride is always intense when she comes to town!
Laken's Baptism:
We were blessed to be asked to the godparents of Laken. We spend LOTS of time with the Hagedorns! If I have a baby boy it will be WILD when all 6 boys get together!
Staci and Jaime's Lake Place
We spent one weekend at the new lake place of my friend Staci's place.
Tubing with Staci was a highlight!
Paddle boating with dad
Ethan attempted paddle boarding. It was really windy this day so not much luck. Maybe next year!
Luke had fun just jumping off the dock.
Another Luke highlight was digging up rocks and playing in the sand.
They had all the fun stuff...hot tub too!
Basketball Court Install!
We got this for the boys for Christmas....
This was a BIG event that got delayed many times due to the rain! But it FINALLY went in!
MANY hours of hoop shooting throughout the summer. Still have some finishing work to do with the landscaping and fence that we didn't get done.
Relay for Life
We went to Relay for Life to support neighbor Rick and Staci!
Zoo with Colin and Ali
One day we met up with the Johnke's and did the MN zoo! Always so great to see them!!
The butterflies in the butterfly garden loved Ethan's shirt!
The bird show was a big hit!
Parks and Wow Zone
We had many lunch dates...being pregnant I opted to do some more eating out for lunch than we normally do in the summer. Oh well!
Glow in the dark mini golf.
Arnold's Park with Grandpa and Connie
We also met up with cousins and grandpa and Connie on day at Arnold's Park.
Luke and Ethan braved the upside down Ferris Wheel
Scrambler with Kelby
The crew on a treat break!
Grandpa loves the Ferris Wheel.
A tight fit!
Also got a chance to see great grandma Butcher this summer too!
Wow, that made me tired just thinking about all the stuff we did in June and July!
